CHIMNEY FLASHING
Chimney flashing is a construction detail used to seal and protect the joints between a building’s roof and chimney from water penetration.
We can provide the installation of chimney lead flashing to repair or replace poorly fitted, damaged, or worn flashing, to avoid the risk of water ingress and to prevent dangerous gases escaping. We recommend that all flashing is sealed and installed correctly keeping everything protected and water tight.
All lead works are carried out to Lead Sheet Association standards.
CHIMNEY REPOINTING
Ineffective pointing can lead to rapid deterioration in damp conditions which may lead to expensive work such as having the entire stack rebuilt.
Repointing is a great way to repair and revitalise the appearance of your property, re-bedding chimney pots can also greatly improve the efficiency of your fire, as well as the obvious safety improvements, and avoiding further damage to your property caused by a chimney pot/stack collapsing.
CHIMNEY FLAUNCHING
The flaunching is the concrete like surface at the top of your chimney used to shed water away from the flue and also to stop water from entering the chimney chase. Cracks or missing pieces in the mortar crown can lead to extensive water damage in your chimney.
If you have pots on your chimney, you should be able to see the edges of the flaunching which hold them in place and shed water away from the flue. If you can’t see that protective cement around the pots then we recommend your chimney is re-flaunched. If not held properly in place, chimney pots fall off easily under high winds and can be costly to replace.
